Reporting and dashboards

Reporting capabilities

Quickbase reports build on the platform's proprietary, in-memory database. It's designed for high-performance calculations across complex data relationships. The Quickbase data model and formula language drive complex, real-time reporting capabilities:

  • Lookup and summary fields aggregate data across tables to streamline reports
  • Formula fields combine data with calculations and logic
  • Declarative role-based access control (RBAC) checks permissions at the database level for each calculation and reporting request. This helps ensure the right people see the right data.

Visualizations

The visualization capabilities of Quickbase include reports and charts. You can create reports and charts with a no-code report builder. You're also able to filter, search, and embed them in pages, forms, and dashboards.

Reports and charts from different applications are displayed and connected on dashboards. Dashboards support cross-report filtering for analysis. They show different report and chart types for the following visualizations:

  • Comparison
  • Trend
  • Ratio
  • Relationship
  • Performance
  • Geographical
  • Time

Reports and charts also have configurable labels, colors, display options, data sets, and drill down behavior. Developers with more technical experience can use code pages to add more custom visualizations (e.g., heat maps) to applications.

Simplified reporting for non-technical developers

You don't need technical training to create reports on the Quickbase platform. Non-technical developers and end users create reports through our widely accessible UI and rich filters.

Default reports are also created automatically as you design the application. Additionally, embedded reports for child records are automatically generated as you define relationships.

Application users can further customize default reports. They can be modified on-the-fly by:

  • Searching
  • Filtering
  • Adding, removing, and re-ordering columns

After reports have been modified, users can save and share with other users. Users can also create personal, customized reports.

The report builder offers the point-and-click ability to create detailed filters and add color coding. This helps business builders create sophisticated visualizations. Builders can also use formulas to color reports, create new report columns, and summarize data.

Complex "mashups" without scripts or queries

The Quickbase data model and formula language drive complex no-code mashups.

Declarative lookup and summary fields aggregate data across relationships into tables. Here, formula fields combine data with calculations and other fields. These fields are included in reports, like any other field.

Report and summary formulas combine data across tables for reporting even when a relationship does not exist. Connect reports and charts from different Quickbase apps through common data on dashboards, even with no relationships. This way, you can filter multiple reports at the same time for analysis.

Integrations with enterprise business intelligence

Quickbase offers a Microsoft PowerBI Connector. This allows you to access all of your Quickbase data directly within the PowerBI interface.

Other reporting tools can also be integrated with the platform. This can be done through the Quickbase APIs or through our Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) connector.
