Mobile development and UI

Applications developed in Quickbase are immediately available on supported mobile platforms without any additional work required by the developer. Quickbase automatically generates a mobile-optimized app interface (CRUD forms, navigation, layouts) at design time from the schema. Quickbase keeps the mobile interface updated in real time as schema and layout changes are made. This generated mobile interface makes mobile specific templates unnecessary and doesn’t require an explanation of technical mobile concepts to users.

The mobile-optimized UI is responsive to mobile form factor and is customized by configuring mobile-specific forms. Developers tailor the mobile interface by selecting specific forms for Quickbase to present to mobile users. Mobile forms are configured like any other Quickbase form and controlled through roles. Mobile layouts are previewed to developers working on a desktop when testing apps as a role or user. When needed, any mobile app interface can be accessed directly from mobile browsers without the container app. Offline mobile data entry for low-connectivity use cases is supported by Quickbase’s mobile container app.

Quickbase mobile app

It is important to note that Quickbase generates mobile interfaces, not native, stand-alone mobile apps. Quickbase provides a mobile container app for download in iOS and Android app stores. Applications developed on the Quickbase platform cannot be published to app stores, are not progressive web apps and internal frameworks are not exposed to developers. Developers can create their own PWAs using our API and code pages.
