Mobile

With Quickbase’s robust mobile capabilities, your back-office teams and field teams can reliably communicate with each other – anywhere, anytime.

Our two mobile apps at your disposal are:

  • The Quickbase Mobile App: Perfect for unplanned work, letting team members across your org stay up-to-date even when stepping away from their desk.
  • The FastField Mobile App: Designed for planned work, like field teams doing site installations, inspections, or repairs.

Quickbase mobile app

Quickbase applications are immediately available on mobile platforms without any additional development. Quickbase automatically generates a mobile-optimized application interface at design time from the schema. This includes data entry forms, navigation, and layouts. We keep the mobile interface updated in real time as schema and layout changes are made.

Because of our generated mobile interface, there's no need for mobile-specific templates. You also do not need to understand technical mobile concepts.

The mobile-optimized UI is responsive to the mobile form factor. You can customize it by configuring mobile-specific forms and dashboards.

Mobile forms are configured like any other Quickbase form and controlled through roles. Developers can preview mobile layouts on a desktop when testing applications as a role or a user. You can access any mobile application interface directly from mobile browsers without the container app.

It is important to note that Quickbase generates mobile interfaces, not native, stand-alone mobile applications. Quickbase provides a mobile container app for download in iOS and Android app stores. Developers can create their own progressive web apps using our API and code pages.

FastField mobile app

FastField is a comprehensive mobile data collection platform. Use FastField to create and deploy custom forms and surveys to be filled out on mobile devices.

FastField supports native mobile apps for iOS and Android devices. The FastField app is designed for seamless data capture, whether online or offline. This is ideal for field teams working on sites without reliable internet access.

The native mobile applications you build in FastField provide a rich set of features out-of-the-box. They do not expose internal frameworks or allow for custom app publication in app stores, though. Also, FastField does not generate mobile interfaces that can be turned into stand-alone apps outside of the FastField ecosystem. However, FastField provides an API that developers can use to integrate with other systems or to build custom solutions.

Using Quickbase and FastField together

With Quickbase and FastField together, you can automate workflows between the field and the back office. You can dispatch tasks from a Quickbase application, pushing a FastField form to a field team member’s mobile device. And the data they collect can be saved back to Quickbase automatically.
