CAMBRIDGE, Mass., March 26, 2019 – Quickbase, the leading SaaS platform for building powerful, integrated and customized business applications, today released new features making their platform easier to use for builders of any technical background. The Visual Builder enables Quickbase users to visualize their business data and see how it connects to help drive process and workflow. With the Visual Builder, builders can create solutions and business tools that generate deeper business insights and make the work within their organizations flow efficiently.
The combination of Quickbase’s robust platform capabilities combined with a modern visual design tool helps knowledge workers, even those with non-technical backgrounds, create the data-driven applications they need. The platform allows workplace problem-solvers who are closest to the work to automate and streamline work processes, collect and centralize data and provide real-time reports and analysis, all without coding experience or knowledge of database administration.
The Visual Builder gives builders the freedom to visualize their data and see how it fits together while building their application in an easy-to-understand interface. As a function of this new feature, builders can drag and drop tables, relationships and fields onto a canvas where they can see the exact data model they are creating, as they create it. In addition, the Visual Builder allows applications to be continuously improved by allowing changes to be made on the fly as new ideas are developed or project scopes are expanded.
“As a visual thinker, this style of creating apps is super intuitive,” said Anna Harris, Director of Operations, Colvent Group Inc., a company that handles vehicle and property solutions for fiduciaries. “Being able to see the way everything is connected eliminates a lot of confusion and potential for error during the planning and app-building process.”
Quickbase is also overhauling the app building experience for all users. A new interactive settings panel will bring all of the powerful app building features in the Quickbase platform together in one place. This modern interface will make the app building experience much more efficient for experienced Quickbase builders while being more accessible for builders new to the Quickbase platform, empowering more knowledge workers and improving time-to-value for everyone.
“The idea for our Visual Builder came out of a recent internal Hackathon and is a great example of our continued effort to innovate and invest in ways to help our customers build powerful custom applications faster and easier,” said George Mashini, CTO, Quickbase. “We constantly strive to empower our builders to innovate in places that otherwise aren’t possible or previously required significant IT involvement. Our internal hackathons and appathons have been a consistent source of innovative ideas to improve our robust suite of capabilities and make our platform even more inclusive.”
The launch of Visual Builder is one example of the innovative culture at Quickbase and is the latest in a series of enhancements made to deliver a more intuitive and productive experience for all Quickbase users. Many of the platform enhancements that have been rolled out to customers over the last year have been innovative ideas resulting from the company’s internal hackathons, customer appathons and deep interactions with its builder community. Late last year, in an effort to meet the growing demand for custom business solutions, Quickbase enhanced themobile capabilities of its platform and previously overhauled its user experience, introducing new ways to interact with data using kanban boards and calendar interfaces. Product enhancements fuel increased adoption of its application-building platform, which has also recently received notable industry recognition. In February, Quickbase was named a2019 Gartner Peer Insights Customers’ Choice for Enterprise High-Productivity Application Platform as a Service.
