1st QuickBase App-a-thon
Twenty teams made up of over 65 customers and partners competed in three different tracks to solve for:
After six hours of working in small teams and breaking down tough problems they had not seen before, the QuickBase app-building dynamos presented their solutions to a panel of judges and were scored on criteria such as meeting the use case needs; polish and appeal; and originality.
The solutions that scored the highest and the winners of each of our categories:
We were happy to award $3,000 to each winning team, and even more delighted when Team Sodexo and Team Trinity both elected to donate their winnings to charity. Some of the created apps are already available on the App Exchange, and more will be coming soon. Check them out by searching “EMPOWER 2016.”
Thank you to all of our participants, coaches and judges. We can’t wait for an even bigger and better App-a-thon next year!
EMPOWER 2016: WEDNESDAY MAY 11TH – FRIDAY MAY 13TH
During the day, attendees visited the exhibit hall, had one-on-one appointments at the QuickBase Tech bar, and attended sessions. Almost 50 sessions were presented from Wednesday through Friday.
Wednesday afternoon closed with a Keynote Presentation from QuickBase CEO Allison Mnookin. Allison highlighted the exciting momentum of the citizen developer movement, and discussed key trends shaping low-code, rapid application development. She was joined onstage for a fireside chat by Mark Driver of Gartner, to bring an analyst’s perspective to the role of citizen development in the digital workplace. See Allison’s Keynote here.
Allison concluded her presentation by unveiling QuickBase Cares, our new corporate responsibility program, and the EMPOWER 2016 fundraising campaign in support of the American Transplant Foundation. We have almost reached our fundraising goal, which will provide $15,000 to support transplant recipients and living donors!
The Product Keynote on Thursday morning laid out QuickBase’s commitment to being the easiest, IT-trusted citizen development platform empowering app builders to drive productivity and insights from their unique and evolving processes. There was a recap of product improvements that have been implemented over the past year, and exciting previews of functionality and user design that is in the works. One exciting announcement is the QuickBase/Workato connector, which automates workflows within QuickBase and between 150 other cloud apps and on-premise systems. Our Customer Awards ceremony followed the Product Keynote. Read all about the winners here.
Thursday night concluded with a party at the Wildhorse Saloon in downtown Nashville, complete with cowboy hats and line dancing instruction. The dance floor was packed throughout the night and the QuickBase community had a grand ol’ time.
We were sad to see the conference end, but excited for our customers to take their learnings back to the office and implement new ideas!
