User Focus Examples

The **User Focus Technique** is one that should be in every expert or even less than expert's tool kit. The setup uses just native URL formula buttons and relationships. The technique leverages the magic of Quickbase, that you can have a (self maintaining) table of users where the Key field is the userid, and the magic part is that the reference side on the right side of the relationship can be a field called say [Current User] with a formula of User(). That means that if you make a button to create or edit the userid record in a **table called User Focus** for the current user and populate it with the Record ID# of the record you are launching from, it means that Quickbase now knows the "USER FOCUS" for who did the click and there is no limit to how many users can be simultaneously working on the app, each will have their own USER FOCUS. This value can then be looked up down to any record in the table so the whole app can know "My Focus" wherever we need it.
