Getting Started
What is Pave?
Pave is Quickbase’s full-stack AI app builder. It lets you create custom, production-ready business apps in minutes using plain language—no coding required.
Built on the same secure infrastructure as the Quickbase platform, Pave offers the built-in governance, IT oversight, and flexibility needed to scale, with the customization capabilities needed to support your existing workflows, budgets, and processes.
Who is Pave designed for?
Pave is designed for teams that want to move quickly—from idea to working software—without relying on developers. It’s especially useful for operators, functional teams, and IT teams balancing speed with control.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. You can describe what you want to build in plain language, and Pave’s AI will create a ready-to-deploy app for you to edit or publish.
How does app building work?
Simply describe your idea or the problem you’d like to solve, provide specific details that you’d like to include, and Pave will generate an app with data, workflows, and UI already in place. From there, you can refine, publish, and share your app from one centralized dashboard.
Building with Pave
What can I build with Pave?
Pave is ideal for internal tools like project trackers, intake forms, onboarding systems, ticketing workflows, and lightweight CRMs. If you can describe it, you can build it.
Can I edit what the AI creates?
Yes. You can refine your app through prompts or make manual changes to structure, data, and logic.
What automation is available today?
Pave currently offers a native email tool that allows you to send automated email notifications and alerts. More advanced automation and integrations are on the roadmap.
Can I import data or upload files?
You can upload documents (like PDFs or images) to guide app creation. Broader data import capabilities are in progress.
Using and Sharing Apps
How do I publish an app?
Publishing is one click. Once you are ready to publish, Admins simply click the “publish” icon on the upper right hand portion of the screen. There’s no need to set up hosting or infrastructure—your app is ready to go immediately.
Can I collaborate with teammates?
Yes. You can invite teammates to use or help build your app. If you want to collaborate on the same apps, we recommend one person create a Workspace and invite teammates to be Admins or Participants.
How do roles and permissions work?
To help you move fast, without losing control, Pave offers:
- Role-based permissions: Admins can build and modify apps and create custom roles with data-level access; Participants can interact with the app; and Viewers can view the app.
- Table-level permissions: Admins control what data different users can see. Permissions are set at the table level and enforced across the app.
- A permission-aware AI assistant: When admins make changes through natural language prompts, the AI respects and enforces the permission structure already in place, so building with AI does not bypass your governance model.
- Centralized user management: Admins manage all users from a single interface — adding, removing, and assigning roles across applications and projects.
Platform & Security
How is Pave different from Quickbase?
Pave is a separate product designed for fast, lightweight app building. Quickbase is better suited for more complex, highly integrated systems.
While Pave is built on Quickbase’s proven foundation, Pave is a separate product from Quickbase and is sold separately. Applications that are built on Pave, at this time, are not accessible from Quickbase and vice-versa.
What makes Pave different from other AI app builders?
Unlike other AI app builder tools that stop at lightweight prototypes, Pave is production-ready, secure, and built for the reality of work:
- No hidden costs or vendor sprawl: Pave already includes the data management, cloud hosting, and deployment infrastructure needed to move apps into production. There’s no separate database to manage, no patchwork of third-party vendors to integrate, no hidden runtime and infrastructure costs that makes it hard to forecast pricing as usage scales.
- Governance by design: As teams build apps, IT maintains oversight from a single interface – with granular user permissions, SSO authentication, audit trails, and version rollback capabilities built in by default.
- Adapts to the way your team already works: Relationships, logic, notifications, and views can easily be customized to fit existing business processes and branding, instead of forcing teams into rigid templates.
Pave helps you build apps you can actually use in your day-to-day operations—combining speed with structure, governance, and built-in deployment from day one.
Is Pave secure?
Yes. Pave is built on Quickbase’s proven platform, giving teams a way to create structured, governed apps with enterprise-grade security and access controls.
- Customer data is never used to train the AI.
- Enterprise-grade encryption and access control apply to every application.
- As teams build apps, IT can maintain oversight from a single interface – with user access controls, SSO authentication, audit trails, and version rollback capabilities built in by default.
Plans & Support
What plans and pricing are available?
Pave offers a free tier and three paid plans starting at $99/month, with options for growing teams and enterprise needs. Pave is sold separately through the Pave website (www.quickbase/pave). It is not available to bundle with, or add to, your Quickbase contract.
How do I get help?
Support is built into the product. You can use the in-app AI assistant, which answers questions, guides onboarding and build, diagnoses issues, and suggests next steps.
Pave also offers a help center, guided walkthroughs, resources, and async support (ticketing and chat follow-up).
If further escalation is required, you’ll also be able to get in touch with a person for extra support.
