Nz - Null Handling

(Duration x, Duration y)
Result Type:
This function returns x if x is not null. If it is null, it returns the alternate value y instead.--Null means that a field's value is undefined. In other words, no one has entered any data in that particular field. It's empty. Its value is null.
Nz([Length of Project], [Estimated Length of Project] returns the value in the Length of Project field, if it exists. If there is no value in the Length of Project field, this formula returns the value in the Estimated Length of Project field.

NZ formula help

So for this formula can i do this as well

Nz([Length of Project], [Estimated Length of Project] + 1)

i.e if the value is null return the estimated lenght + 1 as result.

I tried doing it but i gives me a zero value. Can you please suggest will much appreciate. Below is the exact formula i am using.

Nz([Job number],[Record ID#] + 10138)

probably mismatched types

Hi Zahra,

The Nz() functions handle dates, times, durations, and numeric data. Unfortunately, [Record ID#] is its own field type, and is not numeric.

Try something like this, instead, if your [Job number] field is numeric.

Nz([Job number], toNumber(toText([Record ID#])) + 10138)
