This month, we’re focused on making it easier for you to manage your app. Test your app as a specific user, view all apps that a group has access to, export a group, get insight into who triggered a webhook and when, and more.
Now you can test as a specific user in your app and see exactly what that user sees. This functionality, available only to app admins, is similar to test as a role. If fact, we've grouped them together, under the user dropdown on the global bar.
Test as a specific user is available to app admins only (Admin permission required). Test as a role is available to app managers and users in a role with Admin; Admin, Sharing; and Basic, Sharing permissions.
Note: In our original release, test as a role was limited to app admins. We heard your feedback that test as a specific role should be available to users with Basic, Sharing permissions, too. So, we updated QuickBase and test as a role is again available to app managers and users in a role with Admin; Admin, Sharing; and Basic, Sharing permissions. Thanks for your feedback! We’re listening.
To test as a specific user, click A User and use the dropdown to select or search for the user. You can test as any user who has access to the app, with the exception of app managers and users who are also account admins. When testing as a user, you can add, modify, save, and delete records as that user.
After you select a user to test as, you'll see the name of the user you are testing as in the upper left. Click End Test when you're finished.
To test as a user in an app that has cross-app relationships, you must have admin permissions to all apps in the cross-app relationships.
The ability to test as a user is enabled by default for app admins. If you feel that sensitive data in apps in your account may be exposed to app admins using this feature, you can turn it off for your whole account in Account Properties on the Manage Billing Account page.
If you turn off test as user for your account, you can still test as a role.
You can use markers and field references to configure the message body of your webhook. We've added new markers so it's even easier to see who, when, and how changes are made to your data. Your webhook messages can now contain the:
No need to check the error history to see if your webhooks are firing correctly. If your webhook gets an error response, we’ll send you, the webhook owner, an email right away so you can investigate. Don’t worry — we won’t flood your inbox. If there are multiple errors for the same webhook within the same hour, we'll send an hourly summary, rather than an alert for each error.
We'll email the current owner of the webhook, so make sure the webhook owner is the person who needs to be notified in case of an error.
Typically shy away from groups? Aw - c'mon. QuickBase groups are a friendly bunch - and with this release, they're even easier to use. If you work with groups in QuickBase, you already know they're a great way to help you manage your account or app. You can gather similar users together in a group and then take action, like adding the entire group to an app. With this release, it’s easier than ever to see all the apps that a group can access and now you can export a list of group members, right from the Manage Groups tab.
On the Manage Billing Account page, select the Groups tab, and then select the group you want to view. When you’re viewing the group, a new section, Apps accessible to this group, displays a list of all the apps that a group can access.
Account admins can now export a list of group members. This list includes Member, Member/Manager, and members who are in all nested sub-groups of the group being exported. The exported list of members does not include those in a Manager Only role, as Manager Only is reserved for management of the group itself, rather than participation in the group.
To export a list of group members, on the Manage Billing Account page, select the group and then select Export group members.

We continue to focus on quality. Here are the issues we fixed this month.
|QBE009166||API_DeleteDatabase now allows all app administrators to delete tables in the app. Previously only app administrators who were also the app manager could delete tables using this API. This issue has been resolved.|
|QBE010780||When using Sync to copy data from another QuickBase table, values from a Duration field were not copied. This issue has been resolved.|
|QBE011123||The Users with Access list on the Manage Billing Account page included users that are only in roles that have Disable access to app for users with this role checked. This issue has been resolved.|
|QBE011127||Mobile only If there was a conditional dropdown on a form, and the user adding/editing the record was in a role that did not allow modifying all the records in the table, then the conditional dropdown did not show any values. This issue has been resolved.|
|QBE011134||If a table’s key field was a User field that was also the reference field from another table, a New button displayed next to that field when adding a record. This issue has been resolved.|
|QBE011164||In some circumstances a webhook failed to fire if its owner was testing as a role when the webhook was triggered and the role being tested did not have access to the record. Test as a role is now session-based, which means that your role will only change within the context of your current browser session, so any external APIs or integrations authenticating with your user will now work as intended while you’re testing as another role.|
|QBE011166||When the “From” address for a notification was set to be the user listed in a field, the notification would only be sent from that user if the user had the company’s domain in their email address. This has been changed to no longer require that the user be in the company’s domain but the user must still be a registered user with access to the table. This issue has been resolved.|
