Quickbase Appoints First Chief Commercial Officer & Expands GTM Leadership Team, Building on Record 2020 Growth

Executive appointments strengthen company leadership, supporting strategic go-to-market initiatives and global growth goals

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Sept. 16, 2020 - Quickbase -- a leading application development platform that helps businesses achieve operational agility -- today announced the strategic expansion of its go-to-market senior leadership team, including the appointment of Michael McGuinness as the company’s first chief commercial officer, leading the sales, customer success and channel teams. McGuinness is responsible for helping Quickbase achieve its next phase of growth by expanding the enterprise sales model and building on recent accelerated growth, including a 38% year-over-year jump in bookings in the current quarter and more than doubling enterprise customers in the past year.

McGuinness has a proven track record in customer engagement with a unique talent for building and scaling high-performing teams. McGuinness most recently spent time on Veracode’s senior leadership team, serving as EVP and chief customer officer, where he was responsible for all global sales, customer success, support and services. During his tenure, the company more than doubled sales and customers. Earlier in his career, McGuinness was SVP of Field Operations at Sophos, helping grow the company from $200M in sales to over $400M in less than four years.

“Quickbase is in the business of solving problems, which is what really excited me about the company and this role. I work hard to form relationships with customers on both sides of the transaction and I’m passionate about helping them solve their most pressing challenges,” McGuinness said. “One of the top priorities in my new role is taking what is already a high-velocity sales organization and expanding it to focus on program success across enterprises of all sizes. I look to amplify the current customer-centric, problem-solving approach throughout our sales, customer success and services functions. This is especially important as customers pursue dual-track digital transformation goals including both core systems and edge based workflows. That’s where I believe Quickbase is poised to make a major impact on our customers’ businesses.”

Also helping to spearhead the company’s growth initiatives, Quickbase announced two additional strategic appointments to its senior leadership team:

  • Tuba Kacikoc, vice president, strategic programs, is responsible for defining business strategy, leading key transformation initiatives and building operational scale, efficiency and excellence in this newly created senior leadership role. With nearly 15 years of experience in digital transformation and technology, including strategy, analytics and business operations leadership roles at Qualtrics, C3.ai and McKinsey, Kacikoc has demonstrated success leading business operations and strategic go-to-market initiatives within late-stage venture capital-backed startups.
  • Eric Sargent, vice president, go-to-market operations and enablement, is responsible for managing the development, design and execution of go-to-market enablement initiatives. Sargent brings more than a decade of sales leadership experience, including a tenure at SmartBear where he built the sales ops function from the ground up, overseeing the development of sales onboarding, processes and systems, and launching a new customer-centric selling methodology.

“As change continues to reshape our daily lives, we see our customers continuously adapting and flexing the way they work, and looking for new ways to tackle the demands on their businesses. Now is the time to invest in the leadership roles and functions most critical to supporting that work, said Ed Jennings, CEO, Quickbase. “I have no doubt that Mike, Tuba and Eric bring the right experience and leadership to propel Quickbase to achieve bold global growth goals in our pursuit of helping companies drive operational agility and to be as adaptable as possible to what’s next.”

Today’s news follows a series of major leadership announcements from Quickbase to strengthen its executive team, including former Veracode executive Ed Jennings named as CEO, former Gartner executive Deb Gildersleeve named first CIO in the company’s history, as well as Bristol Myers Squibb CIO Paul von Autenried and Mondelez International CIO Javier Polit joining the company’s board of directors.
