View a List of Users Who Have Access to Restricted Fields

Suppose you've restricted access to a particular field for some users, but not others. Now you'd like to know exactly who can access the field. Since you assign field access by role, you first need to understand which roles you've granted or denied access. Then you can check to see which users are in that role.

To view your roles' permission settings:

  1. In the menu bar on any application page, select Customize > Roles.

  2. On the left side of the page, click the role you want to see.

  3. Click the Permissions tab.

  4. See if you've restricted access to a specific field.

If Custom Access is selected in the dropdown within the Fields column, click the Edit icon (editicon.png) to see which fields have permission restrictions attached.

  5. Repeat Steps 2 through 4 for each role you want to check.

To view a list of users who have access to restricted fields:

  1. In the menu bar on any application page, select Users > Manage users.

The users who currently have access to your application are listed in the Name column.

  2. In the Role column, look for the name of the role(s) that you know have access to the field.

To find users if your list of users is very large:

The Search users box appears at the top of the list of users. Type a search term to limit the users shown to ones whose names contain the search term. The Search box will search in the Name column only.

The Show dropdown list contains a list of user attributes that can be used to limit the number of users displayed. Choose one of the following options:

You can also sort the list of users by any named column. To do so, click the column heading.
