Note: This topic is for Realm administrators only. QuickBase realms can be set up only on accounts that have purchased a QuickBase Enterprise plan. If you have a QuickBase Team account, or if you do not have a realm, you cannot set password policies.
A lot of network administrators have high standards when it comes to password security. If you have a special password format that you require members of your organization to use, you’d probably like to carry those requirements over to your firm’s QuickBase applications. No problem. Realms let you set your own specific password policies across all your QuickBase accounts and applications.
Note: If you want users to sign in to QuickBase using your organization's network login and password, you can. Look into implementing LDAP authentication or SAML authentication for your realm.
On your My QuickBase page, click Manage
the realm, and then click the Policies tab.
Note: Realm
Policies (set using the Policies tab) are not applicable when an external
authentication system has been implemented via LDAP or SAML.
Within the Password Policies section of the page, set the following options:
Minimum Length. Are your users pithy to the point of a security breach? If so, you can force them to create a longer and more secure password. To do so, enter the lowest number of characters you'll allow.
Require Mixed Case. QuickBase passwords are case-sensitive. Passwords with mixed case are less predictable and therefore more secure. Turn on this checkbox to force users to combine capitals with lowercase letters.
Passwords expire. Click the dropdown and select the time interval at which you'll force users to create a new password. Choose Never if you want to adopt a "no-expiration" password policy. You can also require a change every 60, 90, 120, 180, or 360 days.
Set Password Store. It's bad practice to let your staff members use the same password over and over again. Decide how many original passwords they must come up with before repeating an old password (5? 10?) and enter that number in the Size of password store field. (Note: If you've specified that passwords should never expire, you cannot set this value.)
Click Save.
