Once your QuickBase application contains more than a handful of records, you'll need some help locating specific items that you want to view. QuickBase offers a quick find feature that lets you search your entire application or a specific table for a word or phrase. If a word or phrase isn't enough, and you want to specify more detailed parameters for a search, check out the advanced find option.
To quickly search the contents of your application:
In the menu bar on any application page, click Find.
Note: If you don't see Find in your menu bar, your application manager has removed this feature from your application.
In the Find text box, type the word or phrase you want to find.
If your application has more than one table, tell QuickBase where to search.
From the in: dropdown, select the table you'd like to search. To search the entire application, select All Tables.
Click the Find button.
QuickBase searches the contents of all records, and then displays a list of records that match your search term. QuickBase automatically returns results in the column and row order format specified by the Default View. If you don't like the layout, you can change the reporting defaults for the table.
Note: This find operation does NOT search the content of file attachments. To do that, you'll need to use the advanced find feature. Learn how.
Search tips:
If you enter multiple words, QuickBase displays a list of the records that include all of the words you entered.
For example, if you search for the phrase sidewalks of new york, QuickBase displays a list of records that contain all the words sidewalks, of, new and york. These words won't necessarily appear together. QuickBase returns any record in which it finds all the words.
To search for records that match any of the words you enter, separate your entries with the word OR (you must capitalize).
For example, type Betty OR Bernard to find all records that contain either the name Betty or the name Bernard.
To search for a string of text, enclose it inside quotation marks.
For instance, if you type in "The Big Clock" then QuickBase returns only records containing that entire phrase, as it appears between the quotation marks.
