Promote a User to Application Manager

Imagine that an employee, Gladys, suddenly leaves your company. Gladys managed an application that is vital to your business but neglected to transfer management to another user before her departure. How can you put a new person in charge of that application?

If you're a Billing Account Administrator for the account that owns the application, you can promote an existing user of that application to manager.

Note: If you are an application manager (not a billing account administrator) who wants to promote another user to manager, you can simply transfer the application to that individual. (Not sure if you're an application manager or a billing account administrator? Learn the difference between application ownership and management.)

To promote an application user to "manager":

  1. Deny the existing application manager. (You may also be able to deactivate the user.)
QuickBase won't let you promote another user to manager unless the existing manager is on your account's Deny List or is a deactivated user.

  2. On your My QuickBase page, click Manage your billing account and then click the Applications tab.

    1. Tip: To see a list of users who have access to the application, click the name of the application then click View Users. If there are no other users on the application, you cannot promote anyone to manager. In this case, you need to contact QuickBase support for assistance. To do so, select Help > QuickBase Support Center and click the Enter a Support Case link.

  3. Locate the application.
When an application's manager is denied access or deactivated, QuickBase displays a red link in the Notes column that says "Manager on Deny List" or "Manager Deactivated"

  4. Click the red link in the Notes column.

  5. Enter the screen name or email address of the user you want to promote to manager and click OK.
Note: This user must already have access to this application.
QuickBase displays a message confirming that the individual you specified is now the manager of the application.
